Anaconda navigator install packages4/25/2023 ![]() You can find the Anaconda Prompt by searching in the Windows menu. To do this, simply open the Anaconda Prompt. ![]() My preferred way to use Anaconda with Visual Studio Code is to write the code in VSC and run the code from the Anaconda Prompt. I’ll go through a few ways to do that next. If you’ve followed directions to this point you will have syntax highlighting and autocomplete working with VSC but you will not yet be able to run Python code from VSC. Once you have the proper Python interpreter and environment combination selected, code highlighting, autocomplete, and intellisense will be available in Visual Studio Code. The lower-left corner of VSC should now update to show the name and Python version of the selected environment. To use a different Anaconda environment navigate to the “envs” folder, open the folder for an environment, and select “python.exe”. Navigate to the location of your Anaconda installation (C:\Users\your-user-name\anaconda3).įor the base Anaconda installation, select “python.exe”. This will open a File Explorer window where you can navigate to the location of the Python interpreter for another Anaconda environment. Now click on “Enter Interpreter Path” then click on “Find”. Otherwise you can add it as explained below. If you have previously used the environment or interpreter it will probably appear in the palette drop-down. Search for “Select Interpreter” and click on the “Python: Select Interpreter” option (see image below). If you don’t see this, or want to change to a different Anaconda environment (the example below is using the ‘base’ environment), use CTRL SHIFT P to open the settings palette (see image below). If it does you will probably see something like “Python 3.9.7 (‘base’: conda)” in the lower-left corner of VSC (see image below). VSC should recognize Anaconda by default. We want to make sure VSC recognizes the Anaconda installation so it can access installed packages for autocomplete, syntax highlighting, and error checking. Doing so will allow Visual Studio Code to locate the Anaconda Python distribution.Ĭlick install and wait for the Anaconda installation to finish. I do recommend registering Anaconda as your default Python distribution. Later in this article, I’ll show you how to do it manually in case you change your mind. I do not recommend adding Anaconda to the PATH variable for now. I also use multiple python versions and distributions and adding them to the PATH variable can get complicated and confusing. However, I don’t like to do this because I frequently uninstall and reinstall Anaconda and it can cause problems if it is added to the PATH variable. If you add Anaconda to the PATH variable it will most likely work with Visual Studio Code with no problems. Now you will have the option to add Anaconda to the PATH environment variable. Remember the install location because you will need it later if you decide to add Anaconda to the path variable. For Windows, this will probably be C:\Users\your-user-name\anaconda3. To keep things simple, you can install Anaconda just for the current user. I like to use the default/recommended installation settings for Anaconda. Now install Anaconda (you can also install Miniconda). Once you have VSC installed, open VSC and install the Python extension and the Pylance extension (if they’re not already installed). When installing Visual Studio Code (VSC), you can keep all the default settings. To start, download and install Visual Studio Code. You can also check out this linked article for more ways to run Python code in VSC. ![]() This article will describe how to implement all three of these methods with step-by-step instructions. In Visual Studio Code you can run Python code with Anaconda by using the Anaconda Prompt, updating the Visual Studio Code workspace settings to be aware of your Anaconda installation, or adding Anaconda to the Windows Path variable. As common as these tools are for programming with Python, it can be difficult to figure out how to get them to work together. However, if you are trying to use Anaconda and Visual Studio Code together there is a good chance you have run into some problems. Visual Studio Code and Anaconda are powerful tools for Python developers.

Matto espresso4/24/2023 ![]() ![]() It is not so much that, everywhere one looks, there is a Matto as, “Oh, there’s one just a few blocks down. Unlike the growth of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream or Baked by Melissa cupcakes, Matto’s success doesn’t feel rushed or preening in any way. The proliferation of several locations over a few years, after all, is impressive. Right then, Alejandro the jovial manager from the Madison diner right next door enters and Kenny hands him a pastry on the house. “I don’t think that a person should wait more than two minutes for a coffee,” he says. Everything goes smoothly.”įormerly an employee of his family-run coffee shop for several years in his home country, Kenny knows how to run a place like Matto. When people come here, they don’t have to wait on a line. “It’s fast, and we sell it fresh,” he says. In addition to coffee, Matto offers a variety of snacks which, as Kenny says, are baked nightly in West Harlem and then delivered before the store opens the next morning. It’s a small footprint but doesn’t need to be bigger,” writes another visiting from Royal Oak, Michigan. “My husband said the coffee would be about $3.50 back at home. “Matto serves a really rich dark roast that I find gives a chocolatey roundness to the palate,” writes one reviewer on Yelp. The company’s coffee comes from a particular region in Italy about an hour north of Milan and, while not as ubiquitous as fellow Italy coffee manufacturer, Lavazza, the coffee is strong yet smooth enough to satisfy New Yorkers and even tourists. Matto’s affordability shouldn’t be mistaken for a lack of quality, though. While he forms his own customer base, he admires the novelty of the wider Matto community. Once they try it, they’re going to come back. “All the time, as much as I can, I try to get them to try it. “We try to bring in new customers,” he says. ![]() The chain has managed to sustain itself due, as Kenny says, to the sheer “volume of people” it attracts. “One store didn’t survive, somewhere in Chelsea.” “Same price? Yeah, I’ll do a large,” the man says as Kenny turns and pours.Īs with practically all cafes throughout New York, however, the coronavirus pandemic hurt the Matto Espresso. On this early Friday evening, for example, a regular nods to Kenny before nestling in a backseat while, by the entrance, a young couple saunters in and peers at the different-sized containers. There is more at Matto, though not only the low prices but the care that accompanies them. At Starbucks, the patron receives a grande as folk plays overhead while, at Dunkin’ Donuts, he/she gets a latte and a quick “Good Morning” from the barista. The two kingdoms, Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts, still reign and are fine enough. Italians don’t operate Matto, the mezuzah on the gold doorframe indicating the shop’s Jewish roots and the presence of company co-CEO, Moshe Maman, but as Kenny explains, its feel is the old country and the warmth that comes with that. In the window above his head hangs a painting of what looks like a court jester trotting around town with his orange cat, the word “Matto” written underneath. More than a hundred people in a day, for a café that stands right next to a Starbucks, on a block flanked by other coffee shops, must be a joke. “About three-hundred to four-hundred,” Kenny says of the number of people he serves on a given day as he ends his twelve-hour shift on this last Friday of April. ![]() The fact that the company’s employees serve hundreds of customers a day, who might arch a brow at its low-price concept but then savor the strong yet smooth coffee, only ensures its success. How the coffee chain, which started a few years back and now counts twenty locations throughout the city, has survived the coronavirus pandemic is anyone’s guess.īut it isn’t as proven by baristas like Kenny, a genial Albanian whose smile belies a rare pride in his trade, Matto endures during these times because of its amiable staff. At Matto Espresso, whose First Avenue and 53rd Street location opened around the start of the new year, the coffeeholic can get a large for just two dollars and fifty cents.Īll of the items, in fact, from the chai lattes to the breakfast sandwiches, cost that amount.

New testament textual criticism4/24/2023 Cole shows that Ehrman is quite wrong, and that the early copyists can be trusted. However, if we possess high-quality work in the late-second and third centuries, it’s very likely the quality of work earlier would have been just as high. So we can’t make “firm judgments about the training of scribes whose work no longer remains” (144). Yet the handwriting in that manuscript is “on the whole amazingly even, and his practice with regard to orthography, punctuation and the use of nomina sacra astonishingly consistent” (140).Ĭole equally admits that we have no manuscripts from the first century, and what we have from the second century is fragmentary. Certainly someone didn’t write all 440 pages at once, but this is obviously longer than the average ancient letter. One manuscript called P45 has 60 pages remaining of what was probably an original 440 page-long manuscript of the four Gospels and Acts. As many know (at least those who remember taking handwritten notes in school), the longer you write the sloppier your handwriting tends to get. Cole writes, “The average ancient letter was less than one page in length” (143). Cole presents a few different studies showing that, “It seems clear that the vast majority of the Christian papyri were copied by trained scribes” (139).Īs well, NT mss were very long. So work was often done “in-house.” If you were looking for a NT manuscript to be copied, and you knew you had a trained copyist in your church, you would ask them for help. Simply because many were probably unprofessionals doesn’t mean they were untrained.įirst off, to be a “professional” copyist meant you were “ by trade a scribe or held a scribal title… Importantly, the term is not synonymous with ‘competent’ (in fact, we have evidence of professional yet clearly incompetent scribes!)” (138). What Cole shows instead was how likely it is that the copyists can be trusted. Therefore, we can’t trust the manuscripts that we have today because they were more likely to make mistakes. In Misquoting Jesus, Bart Ehrman popularized the idea that those who first copied the NT were unprofessionals not trained for the job. My favorite chapter was Myths About Copyists (Ch 7) by Zachary Cole. It’s also quite difficult (and somewhat pointless) to try to get an exact count of all the mss. Others make it sound as if all the manuscripts we have are full NT manuscripts, when most are only part of the NT. Some say there are way more manuscripts than that (sometimes they include mss from other languages such as Latin and Syriac). ![]() In Math Myths (Ch 3), Jacob Peterson writes that there are about 5,300 “Greek New Testament manuscripts in existence,” but 5,100 “might be a safer estimate” (69). Blaski has more to say about the patristic theory, but this is one example that shows us its good to have accurate information when we try to defend the Bible. Blaski writes about how an Islamic apologetic organization called Islamic Awareness went through the effort of testing one of the stories behind this theory and found that it wasn’t true. And that idea is actually a conflation of two separate stories, yet it’s referred to by many apologists and in various books. As Andrew Blaski shows, that simply isn’t true. For instance, it has been often said that if every NT Greek manuscript were destroyed, we have enough quotes from the early church fathers to put the NT back together again, minus about eleven verses (see ch 12). ![]() Why does this matter? Because when someone misrepresents information about the Bible, even unintentionally, others will look it up, show that that person was wrong, which will make them appear less credible. ![]() Many who want to uphold the Bible’s trustworthiness tend to make overstated or misinformed arguments when they talk about the number of manuscripts we have (ch 3), how many manuscripts we have in comparison to classic works (ch 4), how well the copyists copied (ch 7-8), how many variants there are and how few actually matter (ch 10), how often the early church fathers actually “quoted” the NT (ch 12), and more. Accurate knowledge helps us to continue affirming the Bible’s trustworthiness. I asked IVP Academic for this book because I know next to nothing about text criticism, and because the contributors want to inform Christians about current scholarship and what we know about manuscripts, translations, dates, and their copyists. I won’t be the next Bruce Metzger, Peter Gentry, Dan Wallce (or any of those who wrote chapters in this book). ![]() In fact, for me personally, I’m not training to be a textual critic. Let me search for some manuscripts (sometimes abbreviated as mss) so I can best understand what Paul is trying to say.” So, understandably, there is a vast majority of people who are going to walk past this book. When people think about studying the Bible, most don’t think, “I really need to make a text critical analysis of this passage.

Free pascal oledb4/24/2023 But I have been programming for 21 years and with Pascal since 2004. I did mention earlier in the post that multithreading could be too advanced for me. I know about that saying from the Lazyfoo tutorials. I understand the idea behind using two buffers but it feels like a waste to me when I could be making the game only render (sdl_renderpresent) when everything is ready. I only use surfaces to load bmp files (outside of the main loop) and then load those surfaces into textures only because sdl 2 does not offer any other solution I know of to apply a color key to a texture loaded from the hard drive. But in sdl 2 now I am rendering all graphics using hardware. I'm not familiar with programming for buffers except maybe when I was using sdl 1. If fpstick<1000/selfps then sdl_delay(round((1000/selfps)-fpstick)) If fpscapstate=true then fpstick:=sdl_getticks I have my own implementation of vsync in the main thread in the main loop: Uses sdl2, sdl2_image, sdl2_ttf, sdl2_mixer, sdl_gfx, crt, Like how much hp a target loses and what status effects are applied but that's so low in computational demands that I'm starting to wonder why have multithreading at all except for quicksaves. Then have the main thread render the combat graphics separately but I will have to only process variables that have no impact on the graphics at all. I was thinking I could also use an additional thread for the calculations relating to combat in the game. I will find some other use for the additional thread, for example quicksaves without interrupting gameplay. So I have no choice but to include the procedure in the main thread instead. So from what I can figure the shaking graphics (only characters are shaking, the background tiles are not) comes from the fact that the main thread is rendering the characters while the additional thread is still processing the characters coordinates when they move. However doing something not for the sake of performance like asynchronous file loading isn't a bad idea for intermediate game developers. You should not be trying to use multithreaded optimization. How operating systems handle threads and processes. ![]() If you do not know the costs of using different multithreading tools, you can end up with code that is much slower than its single threaded equivalent. The fact is that multithreading inherently adds more overhead because threads then have to be managed. Here's the important part: a poorly made multithreaded program can perform worse than single thread program. Since multicore processors launched at a consumer level in the early 00s, developers have been using this new tech to squeeze out as much performance as they can from their applications. They hear about a technology that the latest and greatest developers out there are using and they think if the use it too it will make them magically better. Premature optimization is the root of all evilĪ major problem with newbie programmers is that they want to be like the professionals without paying their dues. I tried inserting a conditional statement to only render characters once the additional thread doing calculations is done but that did not solve the issue. When I move characters around the additional thread processes their movements and new positions, the main thread renders the characters on screen and those two things happened asynchronously due to multithreading. ![]() In order to draw the graphics I need to know the position of each character. ![]() I can't think of a way to make this independent. So basically the graphics still depend on player position calculation, which is normal. My characters on screen are shaking when moving and I think it's due to the calculations and graphics not being synced. I made sure that all variables I'm using in the additional thread are not used at all in the main thread. So I moved the code for calculations, such as character positions and movement, to an additional thread and left everything else including graphics in the main thread. So I managed to get multithreading working but it turns out that I cannot use commands relating to graphics in anything other than the main thread which defeats what I wanted to use multithreading for (have one thread render half the grid and another the other half).

1968 el camino ss 4x4 tichmond4/24/2023 ![]() The upgrades kept coming in 1967, with new air shocks, a new grille, new trim and front bumper design, disc brakes, Turbo 400 3-speed automatic transmission, and a collapsible steering column that made this second generation El Camino a head turner. The custom El Caminos had the Chevelle Malibu plush seats, a cloth-and-vinyl or all-vinyl bench, rich carpeting and the option of the highly styled Strato bucket seats and console, and an optional tachometer. Add to this the stronger V-shaped front end and sleek bench interior and the rubber floor mat design from the Chevelle 300 series, and you had style. Comparing engines, the 1965 327 ran low 15s in a ¼ mile at about 90mph, but the 1966-1969 models kicked it up to the high 14s.ġ966 saw the addition of a new instrument panel with the classic horizontal sweet speedometer in the new 1966 El Camino. In 1966 the 396 cubic inch V8 was added to the El Camino, rated from 325 to 375 horse power. ![]() ![]() In 1965 the El Camino got an upgrade with the higher performance version of the 27 engine rated at 350 horse power. It had both the Chevelle and El Camino badges, it was marketed as a new utility vehicle. The V8 was a 283 cubic-inch Chevy small block with two-barrel carb and 195 horsepower with options such as a 220-horsepower 283 with four-barrel carburetor and dual exhausts. The fuel-injected version with 375hp was not available for the El Camino. Both a six-cylinder 194 engine with 120 horsepower rating and a 230 cubic inch engines with 155 horsepower rating were available. Unfortunately, sales were an abysmal 14,163 in total for 1960. Fuel-injected engines were gone and the 283-cid V8 was tuned-down for fuel economy, dropping the rating down to 170 bhp. There seat was made of cloth with vinyl facings, and the trim shade options were grey, green and blue. In 1960 a more conservative design came out. In fact, there were only 21,706 Rancheros made in 1957. ![]() In 1959 only 22,246 El Caminos were produced, but that was still more than the Ford Ranchero which sold around 14,000 units that year. It had a payload rating ranging from 650 to 1150 pounds and gross weights from 4400 to 4900pounds.Īs for performance, the engines offered were a 283-cid Turbo Jet V8 with 2-barrel or 4-barrel carburetion, Turbo-Thrust 348-cid V8s with 4-barrel or triple 2-barrel carburetors producing 335 bhp and 250 and 290 bhp 283 cube Ramjet Fuel Injection V8s. Chevy would describe the El Camino as “more than a car, more than a truck” and it was promoted as the first Chevrolet pickup built with a steel bed floor, which was corrugated sheet metal. The chassis was Chevrolet’s “Safety-Girder” X-frame design which was introduced in 1958. During 1959, Chevrolet introduced the bat-wing Chevys and the El Camino was available with any of the trim and drivetrain options that the other cars had. When the El Camino production began in 1959, the Ford Ranchero had already been in production for two years. Chevrolet would respond to this competition with the 1959 El Camino. In 1957 Ford introduced the Ford Ranchero. During this time GMC had the Suburban Carrier with all the same features. Later, from 1937 to 1939, Studebaker manufactured the Coupe’ Express.Ĭhevrolet introduced the Cameo Carrier pickup truck in 1955, and while it was a type of light-duty pickup like the Chevrolet Task Force, it had fiberglass rear fenders, a great interior, slick two-tone paint and a V8 engine and automatic transmission. In 1935 the Australian subsidiary of General Motors’, Holden, came out with a Chevrolet coupe utility as well. While the body style of the El Camino didn’t make its debut on the North American market until 1957 with the Ford Ranchero, the first company to actually build a coupe utility was Ford Australia back in 1934. The El Camino had the body of an Impala with the Sedan pickup-truck back end and was one of the most iconic muscle cars of the 60’s and 70’s. Known as the “business in the front, party in the back” vehicle to some, the classic Chevrolet El Camino combined both style and functionality in one vehicle. |
